Recent examples of work around carers’ policy and practice include:

• three national studies on carers, looking at services for carers of people with mental health problems, barriers to access to healthcare for carers and respite services for carers of people with dementia - all commissioned by the NHS (SDO) R&D programme - and carried out in partnership with the Social Policy Research Unit at the University of York. 
• an evaluation of a new self-management course for carers for the Department of Health’s Expert Patients Programme
• an examination of issues around the identification, recording and referral of carers within and across agencies for the City of York Carers Strategy Group
• we have also written and produced a step-by-step guide on ‘Supporting Carers in Primary Care’ .  This is now available for purchase, and has received excellent feedback from both carers’ organisations and primary care organisations.
