Children and Disabilities
Some research and consultancy projects we have undertaken Acton Shapiro has carried out a wide range of work focusing on services to support children and young people with disabilities and their families. These include:
-
Continuing care for children and young people – we worked with Doncaster Continuing Care Children and Young People Steering Group to examine the health and social care needs of children and young people who require continuing care and reviewed how current services were meeting those needs. The results of the work helped to inform a new continuing care policy for children and young people and helped the agencies involved in planning and commissioning services.
-
Vulnerable Children Mapping Exercise – a project for Scarborough and Ryedale Local Planning Group for Children to estimate the number and distribution of 'Vulnerable Children’ and ‘Children in Need’ in their area. The findings from the study have been used to inform the Group’s planning work and are helping them improve data capture and data sharing between agencies.
-
Framework for Child Health and Child Health Services – a project commissioned by North Yorkshire Health Authority to develop a comprehensive framework, based on consultation with key stakeholders and an examination of the literature. The framework was designed to assist health organisations and their partner agencies prepare for the new National Service Framework for Children.
-
Contact-a-Family National Survey – assisting the charity in conducting and analysing a national web and postal survey exploring the relationship between parents of disabled children.
