Primary Care Development

Acton Shapiro has been involved in the development of Primary Care activities for many years.  We are closely involved in premises development at both a strategic level with PCTs and LHBs and at practice level in writing business cases for individual development schemes.

We have also been appointed to carry out a market testing exercise for making pharmacy services available at the planned new centres in Maltby, Aston/Swallownest and Rawmarsh and at a new facility in Rotherham City Centre.  The aim is to identify a pharmacy to take a lease from Rotherham PCT of the space available within each of these four premises.  The criteria for making the choice of provider will be not only the pharmacy offering the most economically advantageous proposal but which can also provide a modernised and appropriate local community pharmacy for the area.

We are also involved in many other aspects of primary care, including:

  • recruiting GPs and senior staff, including Practice Managers
  • benchmarking and improving practice financial performance
  • training in such areas as change management, practice-based commissioning (PBC) and business planning
  • facilitating practice 'Away Days'
  • patient, carer and public involvement.

More details are available from Chris Acton or Richard Banyard.  There are also further details on these aspects of our work in the links to the left.
